CHICAGO – A man has been given an 11-year prison sentence for shooting a woman on a Red Line train in the Loop while her son was nearby. Bobby Noblin, 33, must serve 85% of his sentence before he is eligible for release.

Noblin and Latrice Harvey followed a 30-year-old woman and her school-age son onto a train in State-Lake just after midnight on Aug. 27, 2023, prosecutors said. The woman, Harvey and Noblin all began arguing, and Noblin punched the woman’s son in the face, prosecutors alleged. It is not known exactly what led to the confrontation.

The victim punched Noblin and a fight broke out, with Noblin allegedly pulling a firearm from his waistband. At that point, the victim’s son and another witness ran from the train.

But Harvey allegedly cornered the woman on the train and punched and kicked her repeatedly, even after the victim fell to the ground in a fetal position.

Prosecutors alleged that Harvey Noblin then ordered the woman to be shot. Noblin stepped forward and shot the victim in the knee at close range, then ran out of the area with Harvey. CTA surveillance cameras captured the entire incident.

Harvey, 26, previously pleaded guilty to aggravated battery by discharging a firearm in exchange for a six-year prison sentence. Her parole is scheduled for March 2, 2028.
