Chicago 16-year-old boy is accused today of the shooting and carjacking of an Uber driver on the west side last year, according to the Chicago police.
The 49-year-old Rideshare driver arrived to pick up a passenger in the 200 block of North Latrobe when a hijacker in the backseat of his Toyota Camry slipped around June 21 on June 4, the police said. The Carjacker ordered the driver from the car, and although the victim gave his orders, the boy shot him in his knee.
The victim walked through the area in search of help, which he eventually received from a passing motorist. EMS transported the victim to the Mt. Sinai Hospital in good condition. CPD officers used the now degraded shot spotter system of the city to find the crime scene, where various Shell-Om shells were littered on the street.
Researchers arrested the 16-year-old on Monday in the 1100 block of South Hamilton. The juvenile law center of the province is located on that block, which suggests that he has other matters in the court.
He is accused of attempted murder of the first degree, worsened battery by discharging a firearm and discharging a firearm during a hood input. There is no other information available about the boy because he is younger than 18.
