2-year-old boy found locked in cage littered with feces and urine in Kentucky home

Police say five Kentucky residents are behind bars for allegedly locking a 2-year-old boy in a cage littered with feces and urine.

Authorities found the naked toddler trapped behind a locked metal and wooden enclosure in the Carrollton home after receiving a tip about a possible caged child, Carrollton police said in a press release.

The room where the rampaging suspects allegedly held the boy was covered in urine and feces, according to a criminal complaint obtained by McClatchy News.

Brenda Chilton, 71, William Mahoney, 72, Codey Johnson, 29, Tammy Simmons, 52, and Shelby Turocy, 28, were arrested and charged with criminal abuse and wanton endangerment.

Two additional children were removed from the home in the 700 block of 7th Street by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services after the disturbing discovery, police said.

Police did not specify the relationship between the adults and children.
