Chicago – A judge condemned a man up to 20 years in prison this week for beating an acquaintance with a pipe in a house in the northwest side where they sometimes started doing drugs. Lukasz Wiercioch
Lukasz Wiercioch, 31, argued guilty of murder on Monday in exchange for the sentence of judge Michael Clancy, according to the court reports.
On 2 September 2022, the Chicago police responded to a call of 911 from a house in the 3300-block of North Panama that the 46-year-old Marcos Castro found unconscious on the basement floor.
Researchers learned that Wiercioch, Castro and three others were at home, and they all did drugs from time to time. At one point Castro got angry because his girlfriend wanted to go out with other people, including one of the other men in the house, claimed prosecutors.
Wiercioch became involved and started to argue with Castro, who went down.
Another group member was also downstairs and stepped behind a magazine that was strung as a project parade screen. From behind the sheet, that man was said to hear Castro say, Wiercioch says to stop and hear a ‘plop’ sound, said prosecutors. The man looked out behind the sheet and saw Castro unconscious on the floor. He then saw Wiercioch Castro in the head with a metal object, civil servants claimed. A second person also witnessed the attack.
Wiercioch and the witness behind the magazine fled before the police arrived. That witness later led the police to a waste container where Wiercioch threw a shirt and socks after the alleged murder.
The police carried out searches at the house and repaired metal pipes from the basement and the garage.
Wiercioch must serve 100% of his sentence according to the law.
