Sponsored: If it was not enough for Chery Australia to sell a storm in 2024 with its new Tiggo 4 Pro Light SUV and Tiggo 8 Pro Max Large SUV, it now seems to be going to continue that momentum with the latest version of his Tiggo 7 Pro medium SUV.
Chery, perhaps more than any other Chinese car manufacturer, has quickly cared for a solid reputation as the value-for-money champion at the affordable end of the thriving SUV market in Australia.
Within three years after his re-launch, Chery Methodically filled some of the country’s most popular sales segments to offer a series of new models with contemporary designs, sound technology and high-tech functions, all supported by an extensive seven-year factory guarantee and five-star safety assessments.
And now less than 18 months after it has arrived here, the Tiggo 7 Pro has arrived for what Chery calls a change of mid-cycle, so that the line-up is streamlined to the Special Edition (SE) and Special Edition+ (SE+). Both medium-sized SUVs are front-wheel drive, with four-wheel drive no longer available in the Tiggo 7 Pro range. Chery says there was little demand for the more expensive AWD version, where those buyers were attracted to the larger Tiggo 8 Pro Max AWD.
While the newest Tiggo 7 has a few new design instructions, including part of the front fascia that has gone from blue to silver and a new black alloy wheel design for the Top Specie Plus. But that is hardly the most seductive aspect of Chery’s newest medium -sized SUV.
In the midst of the rising costs of living, buyers will be happy to learn that the new Instaptoevel Tiggo 7 Pro SE is priced from just $ 29,990 Drive-Away, while the Top-Spec SE+ can be yours from just $ 33,990 Drive-AWAY.
Prices such as they have not been seen on a new medium -sized SUV for several years, and there is nothing in the same segment today. Even without considering the technology and equipment here, the Tiggo 7 Pro represents exceptionally good value.
Most Chinese car fires are taking a lot in their vehicles, but it is Chery that consistently seems to offer the most complete package for even less money than the rivals – and there is an endless inventory of standard functions.
But beyond the premium functions and a highly offered comfort level, it is the implementation of the technical and general build quality that really impresses here.
There is so much standard kit inside, even in the basic SE, that I noticed that I was looking around the cabin for signing cost-saving because it is such a function-rich environment that covers all bases of design, materials and build quality to technology and comfort. You wonder how Chery is doing for the price.
Not only are the bucket chairs for the front more comfortable than everything from many luxury brands, but they also look. There is contrast pants and metal-look ‘sports inserts, along with excellent pillow comfort for that longer pull.
Buyers who come from older vehicles stand out for a real treat with the long list of standard goodies, including processed 18-inch alloy wheels, twilight-sensitive LED headlights with automatic high-stalk, proximity, proximity to Push button and auto-away locking you cannot tell you enough.
There are double 12.3-inch displays for the instrument cluster of the driver and the infotainmentarray, together with wireless and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite navigation, an eight-speakers Sony Sound System, double zone climate control and LED interior lighting.
Again, that’s just in the base Tiggo 7 SE. The SE+ that you see here adds Big-ticket functions, such as a gigantic panoramic sunroof, power-string valve, black alloy wheels and powerful exterior mirrors.
Behind the wheel it feels considerably in terms of cabin space and riding height, but it extends dimensionally slightly more than 4.5 meters long, making it generally shorter than many medium -sized SUVs and tight spaces and a parking garages make a breeze.
But here is the thing: Bacheleurchom is still more than generous and there is also a decent boat room together with a full-sized spare wheel. So the Tiggo 7 in one way or another seems to check all the boxes and some more.
The value for the money that is offered with this vehicle is really impressive, so you become lyrical about washing everyone who is even interested in a new SUV.
We thought we had put it to the test with a day trip to Berry on the NSW South Coast to visit a friend’s farm, complete with horses and a wonderful cottage with six beds with all the mod-consumers called Girracool Grove, just over the hill of Werri Beach in Gerringong.
It is an invaluable setting and the place has only been 20 weekends without guests in the last five years.
Before you go on the road, the first test is always how fast and easy it is to connect your phone to Apple CarPlay (or Android Auto). Although there are still some old brands that only offer wired smartphone mirroring, the Tiggo 7 Pro has wireless forms of connectivity for both platforms. It cannot be easier to connect and it works a treat every time you climb back in.
Better yet, those double screens offer crystal clear clarity and bright colors. And there is a wireless charging pillow for the shifter with a good non-slip rubber base that holds your device in place, even when you have a winding road along a reasonable clip.
The Tiggo 7 Pro offers different drive modes – Eco, Normal and Sport – but we normally found the most suitable for daily circumstances, given the overall calibration of the engine and gearbox.
By that I mean that it responds appropriately if you have to get away from the traffic lights or when you pull out of a busy junction, but it is also comfortably shifting at the pots around the suburbs or on the highway.
Again, it is the cosiness of the front bucket chairs that are a long way to make this SUV one of the more comfortable vehicles that are now available.
At this more affordable end of the market, advanced air suspension systems or even adaptive dampers are not feasible for manufacturers, but the Tiggo 7 Pro is a good example of conventional suspension that has been done well, so that the occupants are rewarded a beautifully tuned chassis that satisfactory ride compliance and good body control offer.
We pushed the Tiggo 7 pushed by a few 80 km/h in sign and the videographer confirmed that there was almost zero body roll. From behind the wheel it felt safe planted to a level that we did not expect.
It might be front -wheel drive, but we also went on our way to the beaten track over rocks and small traces during filming, and the Tiggo 7 did not want extra traction.
It is a surprisingly quiet cabin, even on busy highways, which was another pleasant surprise given the price point of the bargain. And let’s not forget the after -sales costs on the entire Chery range.
The Tiggo 7 Pro is covered by a seven-year-old, unlimited warranty kilometer, as well as seven years of assistance along the road and covered price services for ultimate peace of mind.
It is no wonder that the Chery logo will be a more usual appearance on Australian roads, with first-class vehicles that offer a completely new car package, at price points that should not be overlooked by those looking for the final price-quality ratio.
