Deepal has confirmed the specifications for the S07 electric SUV, which will hit Australian showrooms in late November.
The S07 will launch as a mid-size competitor to the likes of the best-selling Tesla Model Y, as well as the Chery Omoda E5 and Kia EV5, with a single variant initially only available through dealers in Sydney and Melbourne. .
Although vehicle details were confirmed at Deepal’s local brand launch in Sydney on Tuesday evening, pricing information will not be revealed until the Sydney International EV Show in early November.
The S07 will launch in Australia with a single 160kW/320Nm electric motor and a 79.97kWh battery, giving it a range of 475km. Power is sent to the rear wheels only.

On the outside, Deepal’s debut model in Australia features sporty lines and bright paint colours. Inside, the S07 combines the fluid design and unique materials of BYD of Tesla minimalism.
The interior is centered around a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen that can rotate 15 degrees left or right to provide “better viewing angles.”
Other notable features include a gesture control system that allows passengers to control various functions such as music, calls and an in-cabin camera using hand gestures.
The S07 ditches traditional instrument panels for an augmented reality head-up display that projects navigation directions, vehicle speed and ADAS data onto the windshield.
Immersive interior experience ‘modes’ and an exterior light show that syncs to the rhythm of your music round out the quirky inclusions.
The Deepal S07 comes standard with a seven-year, 100,000-mile warranty, and an eight-year, 150,000-mile battery warranty.
Powertrains and efficiency
Only one variant will be available at launch, which uses a single-motor electric powertrain.
The Australian-spec S07s will feature a rear-mounted 160kW/320Nm electric motor, paired with a 79.97kWh ternary lithium battery, for a claimed range of 475km.
In the domestic market, the S07 is offered with a 190 kW electric motor and a choice of lithium iron phosphate batteries (LFP) of 66.8 kWh and 79.87 kWh.
Deepal is also offering the S07 with a range-extender powertrain in China, with a 1.5-litre petrol engine.

Dimensions
Compared to its best-selling rival, the S07 is the same length and height as a Tesla Model Y, but narrower.
However, the S07 is longer, wider and shorter than the recently launched Kia EV5.
The Kia has more luggage space, although the Deepal has a large capacity of 125 liters.

Maintenance and warranty
Deepal’s Australian distributor, Inchcape, has not yet released aftersales information for the Deepal S07, including service intervals and any limited-price maintenance plans.
Deepal will launch in Australia with a seven-year, 100,000-mile vehicle warranty, expanding to eight years and 150,000 miles for the EV battery.
Inchcape will initially serve customers in Sydney and Melbourne, with Deepal’s expansion dependent on demand.
“The network will start in key areas that focus on electric vehicle sales, so we are starting in Sydney and Melbourne and looking to grow as demand there is,” said Cormac Caffola, managing director of Deepal Australia.
Further information about the Deepal dealer network will be announced alongside prices at the Sydney International EV Show, scheduled for November 8-10.
