2025 Nissan Micra Evvival unveiled, but only for Europe

The sixth generation Nissan Micra has been unveiled in production form and will go on sale in Europe by the end of 2025.

Unfortunately, the new Micra will “be offered exclusively for European customers”, so that it will be excluded from Australian and Japanese markets.

The sixth generation Micra will be built next to his platform mate, the Renault 5 e -tech, in Renault’s “Electricity” factory in Douai, France.

While the new Micra unique external body panels will have written by Nissan’s London Studio, it is clear from the silhouette of the car that it has a lot in common with the Renault 5 e-tech, including the AmPR Small Electric Vehicle Architecture.

This reflects the cooperation effort used to design and produce the fifth generation (K14) Micra. That car was mainly sold in Europe and had a lot in common with today’s Renault Clio, including its platform, powertrains and factory.

The production of the K14 Micra ended in 2023, although the earlier fourth generation (K13) is still made in Mexico, complete with an edgier front-end and redesigned interior.

The semi-circular rings around the head head lighting units refer to the third generation (K12) Micra produced between 2002 and 2010.

While the K12 combined its many cute design elements mainly with soft, oval shapes, the new model balances its retro functions with sharper styling elements, such as his wheel kovs.

Just like with the Renault 5 e-tech, the Micra is a five-door hatchback that dreams of being a three-door car with its hidden back door handles.

Nissan has confirmed that the Micra will be available with a 40kWh or 52kWh battery, which means that the new model will probably share its powertrain options with its Renault brother or sister.

The Basic Renault 5 e-tech comes with a 90 kW/225 Nm electric motor that controls the front wheels, a 40kWh battery, 11kW AC chargers and DC quickly charging up to 80 kW.

High-Spec versions are equipped with a more powerful 110 kW/245 Nm engine, a larger 52kWh battery and DC quickly charge up to 100 kW.

In addition, there is also the Wild Renault 5 Turbo 3rd. Not only has a two-motors rear-wheel drive with 400 kW, a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 270 km/h, the turbo 3e has a largely unique three-door body.

There are no indication of a Micra version of the Turbo 3rd. Interestingly, Renault has confirmed that the turbo 3rd will be sold in limited numbers in Australia, but has not yet had to lock volume-selling variants of the 5 e-tech range.

The new sheet of the third generation and the upcoming Micra EV were unveiled at an event organized by Nissan’s Chief Planning Officer, and soon CEO, Ivan Espinosa, where he described all the models that the Automaker will launch in 2025 and 2026.
