A global debut is imminent for the next generation Mercedes-Benz Cla-ClassWhat will be the first with electric current, and the Tesla Model 3 -Rival could come down as quickly as possible.
The next generation CLA from Mercedes-Benz debuts the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA), a new platform for the smaller vehicles of the brand that will support both combustion and electric power lines.
The sedan-of-four-door Coupé-Wordt this month, with a local launch reserved for the second half of 2026 according to Mercedes-Benz Australia Director of Sales, Johannes Schoen.

“The announcement of the Global Press is in March – so in about a month. With regard to availability, we are currently looking at the second half of 2026, “Mr Schoen told Carexper.
“That’s the plan for now, but let’s take a look.”
Built on a new 800 -volt architecture, the CLA of the third generation is offered with a choice of two batteries: a 58kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) package and a flagship 85kWh Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery.
Mercedes-Benz claims that 58kWh versions can drive up to 600 km on load, while 85kWh versions for 750 km can go.
EV versions of the CLA are offered with a choice of rear or four-wheel drive.
Examples of rear-wheel drive use a 200 kW motor (brought on the market if the Electric Drive Unit 2.0) that has a two-gear gearbox, a scoop for an ‘entry level’ EV, which is claimed to improve efficiency at different speeds. CLAs of four -wheel drive adds an 80 kW of electric motor to the front axle.
But the new CLA will not only be offered with electric current, because it is being developed at the same time as a mild hybrid.
The move will help Mercedes-Benz to isolate from cooling the EV question, although it is unclear whether Australia will receive both electric and mild-hybrid powertrains.
Mercedes-Benz Australia plans to consolidate his line-up to have the CLA as an entry-level model after he has confirmed that the A-Class Sedan will be stopped last month.
“The access point to the brand will be the CLA and the GLA. As a company we have to look at where the greatest potential of the customer is, “Mr Schoen explained.
Worldwide, Mercedes-Benz shrinks the number of so-called luxury models from the entrance, whereby today’s A-class and B-class are not replaced. However, there will be replacements for not only the current CLA, but also the CLA shooting brake, GLA and CAP.
