The Toyota BZ4X Is the newest electric vehicle from the Japanese autog giant to receive a mid-life update, which produces a larger driving range, more power, an improved interior and a fresher face.
Toyota Australia has unveiled in Europe and has confirmed that the facelifted BZ4X will come to local showrooms in the fourth quarter of 2025 (October to December), with the price that is confirmed closer to the launch.
Visual changes include the acceptance of Toyota’s newest ‘Hammerhead’ family land, with thinner LED headlights, highly mounted fog lights, a more square bottom bumper and vertical side air aprons.
It seems that the rear end is largely unchanged, while shiny black wheel bow lists replace the matte black look of current examples.

Inside, the central infotainment -twchscreen now runs on new software and it has grown from 12.3 to 14.0 inches, resulting in the start button next to the steering column and two buttons on both sides of the display are mounted.
The climate control has lost its rocker switches for temperature and fan speed adjustment, although there now seem to be buttons for temperature adjustment. Other functions are controlled via buttons on the screen.
The gear button has also been moved further and is now behind a few wireless telephone chargers that are now exposed, instead of covering the center console under a cover.
Although the 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster remains, it no longer seems to be surrounded by part of the dashboard. It is unclear whether it is higher, because the visibility of the screen in the current car can be obscured when the steering wheel is in the highest position.
Although these are far from insignificant changes, Toyota has made further improvements under the skin to not only improve the power outputs of the BZ4X, but also to increase the driving range.
Models with one engine, front -wheel drive now produce 165 kW current, a higher 15 kW. This has resulted in a saving of a tenth of the sprint time of 0-100 km/h, now at 7.4 seconds.
It is not clear whether there has also been an increase in the torque exit, although on the basis of the minimum gear shielding, this seems unlikely. The pre-update model produces 266 Nm.
The Four-wheel drive BZ4X has also received a Power Bump, rising from 160 kW to 252 kW, which means that its 0-100 km/h time cuts to 5.1 seconds-18 seconds faster than the current model.
Toyota claims that the efficiency improvements have applied to the electric motors of both powertrains, which have also benefited from the assembly of a larger battery pack.
The 71.4kWh Lithium-Ion battery of the current BZ4Xs that are sold in Australia has grown to 73.1 kWh, resulting in a Driving Range Claim of 573 km for examples for the wheel drive and 520 km for four-wheel drive.
Both figures are claimed by Toyota against the WLTP cycle and represent significant improvements on the 436 km and 411 km of claims made for pre-worked examples of Australia.
Toyota has also mounted the BZ4X with pre-conditioning of the battery for the first time, so that it can take higher charging rates by keeping the package at an optimal temperature.
The car manufacturer claims that it has a “development objective of fast charging in about 30 minutes under cold conditions (under -10 degrees Celcius)”.
Australian prices can rise from the current $ 66,600 before the on-road tag for the front-wheel drive BZ4XS and $ 74,900 before on-road for the four-wheel drive.
Although Toyota has previously excluded after other brands by lowering the prices of his EVs, the medium-sized electric SUV segment has become increasingly competitive.
The growth in the EV market of Australia also slows down, with only 9516 vehicles on batteries sold in January and February 2025-a decrease of more than a third party compared to the 15,004 turnover that was registered in the same period last year.
Local deliveries of the BZ4X started last year in February and fewer than 1000 examples were given until 2024 and placed the 19th in the annual EV sales race.
