A JPMorgan Chase customer says thousands of dollars were withdrawn from her bank account using a debit card applied for without her knowledge.
Dr. Andrea Kaiser says a debit card was recently sent to her via overnight mail. Shortly after the card was placed in her mailbox, Kaiser says surveillance footage from her door camera showed a “random person” arriving and taking the card. reports NBC New York.
Shortly thereafter, Kaiser says multiple unauthorized withdrawals of amounts ranging from $3,350 to $6,100 were made from her account within days.
She notified JPMorgan Chase and also filed a police report.
“Probably a total of $40,000 had been removed. And everyone I talked to said, ‘Don’t worry, we’ll fix it. Don’t worry, we’ll fix it.'”
But two months after he notified JPMorgan Chase and police, Kaiser still had not been repaid by the trillion-dollar lender.
She then turned to NBC New York and the television station immediately raised the issue with JPMorgan Chase.
“We asked Chase to look into Andrea’s case and the issue was resolved shortly after. A spokesperson told us they were pleased to be able to reconnect Kaiser with her funds.”
The bank also sent Kaiser a letter saying it had been reimbursed. The letter does not elaborate on what happened to her money or the refund process.
