Denver police search for carjacking, hit-and-run suspect

Denver police are searching for a carjacking suspect who ran over the car’s owner and fled the scene, officials said.

Officers responded to reports of a hit-and-run crash around 5:10 p.m. Wednesday near East Elmendorf Drive and North Yampa Street that sent a pedestrian to the hospital with serious injuries, according to the Denver Police Department.

Now, investigators say the pedestrian was the car’s owner and was hit as the unidentified thief fled.

Police are searching for the car, a gray 2023 Dodge Challenger Coupe with Colorado license plate EPDU51, according to a Medina Alert from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
