Witnesses not cooperating after Schutter kills the victim on the North Sidewalk River

Chicago – Witnesses were not cooperating after a man had been shot and killed during a fight on a North Sidewalk river at night. The shooter remains in general.

The Chicago police were less than a block away when the shooting took place in the 500 block of North Franklin at 3.15 pm, they immediately fired shots and found the 31-year-old victim quickly. He had sustained seven shot wounds, according to an officer on the spot.

In a media statement, CPD said that the victim and another man had a fight that became physical before the perpetrator pulled out a gun and fired several shots and hit the victim in the chest.

The shooter escaped on foot, the police said, but CPD did not release a suspicious description.

Officers stopped four men about two blocks of the shooting, but witnessed to participate in the investigation by verifying whether one of the men was involved in the shooting, the police said. One of the four men was arrested for an order. The police released the other three after collecting their identifying information.

The victim is the third person who was shot in River North this year and the second to die from their injuries. Both previous victims were admitted during a single incident in a hotel in the 300 block of West Grand on 22 February. In that case, charges have been filed.

CWBCHICAGO was founded in 2013 by five residents of Wigleyville and Boystown who had been discouraged with inaccurate information that was provided during meetings of the local community policing (CAPS). Our coverage area has since been expanded to cover Lincoln Park, River North, De Loop, Uptown and other North Side areas. But our mission remains unchanged: to provide original reporting of public safety with a better context and more detail than regular media. Our editorial e -mail address is news@cwbchicago.com
