A Hampton’s High School was evacuated on Friday after drivers received a series of bomb threats and a 15-year-old student is now confronted with criminal prosecution.
Students at Westhampton Beach High School and Middle School were moved to a location outside the campus after the threatening calls, Newsday reported.
Westhampton Beach Village Cops do not spend the student’s name, but arrested him on Friday to make a threat of mass damage, According to news12.
The teenager was released in the custody of his parents.
The disturbing calls were made on Friday morning around 10 a.m., according to NewSday.
Responding officers have cleared the campus buildings using a K-9 unit.
Westhampton Beach Union Free School District Superintendent Carolyn Probst has informed parents of the threats and added a message: “We have safely evacuated all high school and secondary students and employees from the buildings and move them to our designated evacuation locations.”
The younger students were transported to a fire station, while the high school students were taken to a church.
It was unclear what the teenager’s suspect could have motivated.
A second Long Island School District-Center Moriches-Defense on Friday also a brutal bomb threat and all schools went into Lockout mode, newstay reported. Lockout mode includes threats outside a school building.
Officers who responded to the three schools of the district have all released them within 20 minutes.
Sources said the police believe that they have identified the person behind the Center for Moriches threat, but still have to find the individual.
