Chicago – A tough burglar made a west side ‘uninhabitable’ at home by stealing the copper sanitary ware of the building while the residents slept last week, officials said.
A woman who lived in the 900 block of North Monticello was up to use the laundry room around 3 o’clock on March 7, only to discover that her bathroom had no running water, according to judicial archives. She contacted family members who live on the first floor and they had no water either.
So the woman decided to go to the basement to see if she could find the problem. It didn’t take long.
First she found a window broken on the veranda. Then she discovered that her basement flooded. And then she saw shadows moved around the basement. She decided to call 911.
The Chicago police were looking for the basement and reportedly found 51-year-old Triono Mills who hid behind a few trays and layers in a crawl space. There was a bag of copper pipe next to him, said civil servants – pipe who used to deliver water to the people who lived upstairs.
Worried about the brutality of the allegations, Judge James Costello Mills held pending trial and said it made the house ‘uninhabitable’.
Mills is accused of residential burglary and material damage.
