From swimming Guillemots and sunscreen ships of the sun to a cautious seal and vorarious pigeons, this year’s winners British Wildlife Photography Awards Celebrate the diversity of animal life in Great Britain.
Jury members considered more than 13,000 images that were submitted by amateurs and professionals, with the top award to Simon Withyman, who won a striking portrait of a female fox in his hometown of Bristol.

“I had been photographing these vixes for three years,” says Withyman. “This street -way fox was a successful mother and had a family of young mouths to feed. I immediately felt attracted to the interesting perspective effect of these handrails and wanted to show some beauty in this daily urban scene.”
Extra impressive images include the dramatic view of Drew Buckley on the Monadhliath Mountains of Scotland with a white hare in the foreground and a group of vaartigent pigeons on the way to a bag of chips, captured on a GoPro by teen Ben Lucas.
