494,000 Americans Affected As Massive Data Breach Exposes Names, Financial Records, Medical Data, Social Security Numbers and More: Report

A cyber security incident with nearly half a million people has uncovered personal, financial and medical information.

The provider of mobility and assistant solutions Numotion says that 494,000 customers are affected by a data breach between 2 September 2024 and 18 November 2024, report Security week.

Numotion out An unknown entity succeeded in gaining access to the E -mail accounts of the company’s employees without permission several times.

The company says that after an extensive assessment, the E -mails in question contain sensitive customer information.

Numotion out It has “no reason to assume that someone tried to gain access to personal information in the accounts”, and it offers identity theft protection services for users whose sofi numbers have been stolen.

“The type of information that may have been viewed varied for each individual, but had names, birth dates, product information, payment and financial account information, information about health insurance, medical information and for a minority of individuals, sofi numbers and driving number numbers.”

Numotion says that affected customers must remain vigilant and to report any strange activities with regard to identity theft, health care fraud or financial fraud.

“If individuals detect suspicious activities, they must inform the entity with which the account is maintained and immediately report fraudulent activities to the correct law enforcement agencies, including the police and their attorney general.”

Numotion focuses on operating people with disabilities by offering adapted tools, such as wheelchairs, seats and positioning equipment, as well as access to home and medical supplies.
