What will be the plot of Squid Game season 2?
Here’s the official synopsis for the show’s second season:
Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 remains determined to find the people behind the game and put an end to their cruel sport. Gi-hun uses this fortune to fund his search and starts with the most obvious place: looking for the man in a sharp suit who plays ddakji in the subway. But when his efforts finally pay off, the path to taking down the organization proves more deadly than he imagined: to end the game, he must start it again.
Season 1 ended with Seong Gi-hun making a quick decision to re-enter the game after meeting the recruiter again (after a quick stop at the hairdresser to get a flashy new haircut).
Part of what makes the show such a success is the terrible games, so we expect more gruesome and elaborate sets for the second series. The latest teaser shows a running race, with competitors falling to their deaths.
Fans of the series should also check out the reality competition spin-off Squid Game: The Challenge season 2.
Will Squid Game return for season 3?
In 2023, creator Hwang Dong-hyuk told Variety that there was a “50-50” chance the show’s second season would be its last – now we know Netflix already greenlit season 3.
The latest teaser reveals that the third and final installment of Squid Game will be released in 2025.
