The assessment of experts
Our opinion
The newest film by Jason Statham let me grin from ear to ear, and not for the right reasons. A working man himself is aware of his ridiculity … to a certain extent. If you don’t like hilariously bad films, this is not for you.

Jason Statham enters a room and shakes the hand of an average drug dealer on a throne made of engine parts and a metal skull. The dealer looks down on their clamped palms and shouts: “Look at those stones. You are not an agent, you are a working man.”
It is this kind of nuanced dialogue that determines the scene for this real, really terrible action film. And yet I can’t help it, but think of Maximus in Gladiator while he is leaving himself together: “Are you not entertained?!”, Because … I was.
I giggled hysterically my way through the most working man. I am not sure if that was director David Ayer, but that was my truth. I recently made the ridiculous of Reacher for taking liberties with his story, and after seeing this, I would like to send a formal apology to Amazon because the madness cannot even be compared.
Small spoilers for a working man below
So what is this new film about? Statham plays a gift as a Levon, a name that I had to look up because there was hardly any reference. But like many things in this film, it doesn’t matter. The only thing you need to know is that he is a former military man who has become a construction worker, and he is on a mission to get human traffickers.
“I can’t believe they got away with making such a movie!” – Anonymous friend of reviewer
The story starts during a normal day at work when two hired goons appear and threaten one of the builders. When Statham intervenes, the couple threaten him. Big mistake. He picks up a bucket of screws and throws them to the attackers, who happen to be right along the camera lens. As soon as I saw that shot, I knew what I was before and I couldn’t wait.
The driving force behind Statham’s search is to save the daughter of his boss, Jenny Garcia (Arianna Rivas). The couple shares the shortest binding moment that the army discusses, and as a father himself Statham knows the importance of family.
Then Smith / Warner Bros.
Even 24 hours after Garcia is kidnapped, we see two police officers appearing on the spot. When Statham is going to visit the parents, they are already trying to push thousands of dollars in cash to take this mission into their own hands. We haven’t even seen them talk to the police yet – they didn’t even try!
The only thing I can assume is that in this universe the majority of Chicago police are leave every year, and those who have left are incompetent. There are many controversial, loud acts of violence in a working man, including two men killed by a gun in a block of flats and a van that drops in a river. But does one of them lead to someone calling the police? Of course not.
But I will tell you who is always on the spot – the Russian Mafia. Yes. The stereotypical villains in Hollywood that you and I thought could not be made during this time.
And they try not to mix at all. The second-class goons in this film wear showy designer training suits from head to toe with bucket hats in red and one in blue, so that you can remember which one is. Again, it doesn’t matter.
“Best film I’ve ever seen, without a doubt.” – Sarcastic guy from Row in front
The big boss of the Russian mafia (or ‘the brotherhood’ as referred to several times, but I still can’t tell you why that is) Dont a fur trimmed jacket and walks around monologue Evilly. His name is Wolo Kolisnyk and he is played by Jason Flemyng.
Later we discover that there is an even larger boss above him. I held my breath in, ready to see who could be possible … Only to find out that it was another Russian man – Symon Kharchenko – with a black jacket, hat and walking stick, played by Andrej Kaminsky.
But you can be sure that none of these Mustache-Twirling-villains pose a threat to Statham, who makes apparently impossible situations intact. During one series he drives on a motorcycle while at least three people shoot machine guns on him from vans. Fortunately, our hero has a solid plot couple that protect him against any lost bullets.
I cannot claim that in this film there are numerous kickass action scenes in this film – The hits are almost deafening and the violence is delivered in large numbers. But every detail around these set pieces is a side issue.

Then Smith / Warner Bros.
In one scene, Statham apparently hits every man into a pulp in the throne room. Or at least I thought he did that. After he has had a conversation with dealer Dutch (Chidi Ajufo), he turns around and everyone with whom he just fought is just … standing there, completely cool. I saw several people throwing in the air at the moment.
This scenario is from David Ayer and Sylvester Stallone, and I am willing to bet that no woman was involved during the writing process. There are several cases where a villain will be something important, while his wife/girlfriend tries to attract his attention. To confirm that he is bad, the male character will give her a big blow, and then we will hear nothing from that woman anymore.
There are female characters with a little more substance, but unfortunately the actresses cannot save the material they have received. Jenny Garcia has just enough spunk in her that she sees the box of what a film producer regards as progressively, while Schurk Artemis (Eve Mauro) spends the majority of the second half of the film tax and blinding, so we know she is heavy and not much different.
“Why … why?” – Man in disbelief sat next to the author
The score of a working man is also … a choice. Each scene has some stereotypical on-the-nose music that feels completely unjustified. The opening on the construction site has wild strings designed to strengthen the motto of Statham’s teamwork, while a scene in a salon is supported by a fingers lick contact-in country number.
My questions about this film are endless. Why is the operation so jerky? Who went to a malignant casino? Has David Harbor really added something to this movie as the blind friend of Statham? Why was the moon so big during the forest hunter scenes? Say it to me, people: it. Don’t do it. Matter!
Where I Warner Bros. And will give MGM credit for the fact that they seem to be self-conscious about what this film is. During the screening, all staff were dressed in high fishing jackets, while the social media team made a LinkedIn profile for Statham to support this new release.
No, a working man is really not a good film. But it doesn’t have to be.

Do you have to look at a working man?
My sister asked if she would like this movie while I had sent her a message about my response, and truthful … I had to say yes. Because I know she will be enjoying themselves.
There is a crowd here and they are not only Statham film nuts who enjoyed the beekeeper. My friend and I were in stitches while the credits of a working man rolled, and we didn’t see it as a wasted night.
In honor of me as a professional reviewer, I cannot give it a considerable assessment in good conscience because of the waste story, distracting terrible score and attacking bad stereotypes. But if you want a comedy (not me think That was deliberately) with some brainless action thrown in, then my guests are.
A working man is now out in cinemas. If you are in the UK, you can get tickets from CineWorld, Vue and Odeon. They can get those in America from AMC theaters, Fandango and Atom tickets.
