Kay Jewelers, 1010 South Canal (Apple Maps)

Smash-and-Grab Dieven plundered a jewelry shop in South Loop on Tuesday afternoon, demolishing the showcases and getting away with, as an officer said, “a lot of” jewelry.

Shortly after noon, four masked men Kay Jewelers, 1010 South Canal arrived and, according to the Chicago police, used the glass displays to break the glass displays.

The crew collected jewelry from the things and escaped in at least one car waiting for the front. Witnesses gave conflicting descriptions of the escape car, with at least one who said it was a black Alfa Romeo, while another said it might be a gray sedan with damage to the driver’s side.

CPD has not released descriptions of the suspects.

CWBCHICAGO was founded in 2013 by five residents of Wigleyville and Boystown who had been discouraged with inaccurate information that was provided during meetings of the local community policing (CAPS). Our coverage area has since been expanded to cover Lincoln Park, River North, De Loop, Uptown and other North Side areas. But our mission remains unchanged: to provide original reporting of public safety with a better context and more detail than regular media. Our editorial e -mail address is news@cwbchicago.com
