Google has added a few powerful new tools to Google photos, including some AI functions that were previously exclusive to the Pixel 9 series.
Google photos is now ten years old and has built up an impressive 1.5 billion users. To mark the opportunity, Google has published an update with a few handy new AI tools, all packed in an intuitive new user interface.
One of these new functions is a new editor that combines intuitive AI-driven suggestions with all the required editing tools and bundles them all in one place.
With those AI suggestions you can combine multiple processing solutions at the same time for fast operations. You can also tap a specific part of an image and receive localized processing suggestions.
Pixel 9 functions that come to Android
Auto Frame and Reimagine have now debuted in Magic Editor in Magic Editor for the Google Pixel 9 series and will now start rolling out the wider Android ecosystem.
The first uses AI to automatically frame the subject in your image and even to generate more of the background if necessary. With the latter you can replace part of a photo with almost everything you can think of using natural language requests.
Google says that these new Google photos -editor will start to roll out on Android devices from next month, with iOS some time following this year.
QR -album codes and more
Another new addition, which is now being rolled out is the possibility to generate QR codes for sharing albums. These can be shared directly from your device or be printed for fast and easy access.
The Google announcement post also contains a series of tips to get the most out of the new Google photos -app. These include guidelines for re -viewing the places you have been, looking for photos on an intuitive map according to geolocation data.
We also get a reminder that you can use natural language to search for specific photos (for example, used: “me in a sparkling blue dress”), enjoy monthly or annual summaries and more.
