Women want to lust after 'rodent men', says Vanessa Feltz as she takes a look at the 'new rat group' of celebrities

UNLESS you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’ve probably heard of the “hot rodent man” trend.

TikTokers talk about it, newspaper columnists write about it and women go crazy for men who are the opposite of what we would consider conventionally handsome.

I have to say, I’m not surprised that women are attracted to men like Kieran Culkin[/caption]

Adam Driver also falls into the ‘hot rodent man’ category[/caption]

The term refers to a variety of desirable famous men who resemble rodents with their rat-like features, such as small pointy faces, small eyes and sticky ears.

These men are not large in stature and are a bit on the thin side.

They’re the kind of guys that women don’t necessarily expect to get turned on and the total antidote to Barbie’s Ken.

But these handsome rodent men – yes Kieran Culkin, Josh O’Connor, Mike Faist, Jeremy Allen White, Timothy ChalametAdam Driver, Barry Keoghan and Matt Healy, I’m looking at you – are having their moment in the sun and I have to say I’m not surprised.

This tendency for women to choose somewhat unconventional men has always been there.

There have always been men who have so much charisma, confidence and talent that they prove irresistible, even if they are generally not good looking. Anyone who’s seen Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate knows what I mean.

He was hardly a hunk – he didn’t look like he was going to grab you, take you into his cave and have his way with you. But he was really sexy and women went crazy for him.

So this trend is not new, it has just been given a new name.

As one TikToker said last week, “It’s a hot summer for rodent friends, but I signed up for that class a long time ago. The rat boys have always been there and always the hottest.”

I saw Saltburn and although Barry Keoghan doesn’t do it for me, women love him. He had so much body confidence and tremendous enthusiasm when he did that nude dance.

It’s that swagger and charisma that is so sexy and his singer girlfriend Sabrina Carpenter clearly agrees.

Likewise, no one can make chopping vegetables look as tempting as Jeremy Allen White in The Bear, and while Willy Wonka was never a sex symbol, Timothee Chalamet made a maroon velvet coat attractive in Wonka.

Personally, I’m more of one Wesley Snipes is a kind of girl and I don’t like the weasel look.

That said, I never rule out dating someone who looks like this because if he turns out to be attractive, humorous and energetic then of course I would consider it.

‘Oppressive and boring’

The idea that to be imaginative you have to look a certain way is not true. It’s totally oppressive and boring.

I know some attractive, sexy women who have chosen men with small builds, who you could say are a little on the flabby side, but once you start talking to them, you totally understand.

The whole perfect, muscular action man look is a bit passé. As we’ve seen from the lukewarm response to this year’s Love Island hunks.

I dated a male model years ago, and he was extremely handsome.

He was six feet tall, incredibly slim, very tall, and had flawless skin and beautiful eyes.

Vanessa

When he asked me out, I could hardly believe it.

I was excited, but the man turned out to be extremely boring.

So maybe these rodent guys are just a lot more fun? Maybe they are better in bed and delicious to eat with.

I know that many young women feel like there is a double standard where they are expected to look a certain way with the right hair, the right breasts and the right size of clothes, while all these men their feet fall even though they look like rats.

As another TikToker said, “How come they don’t have any hot rodent friends?”

But we all know that the most attractive thing is to be yourself and that looking a little different is something to be appreciated.

As far as I’m concerned, the “hot rodent man” trend is something to be celebrated, and long may we continue to encourage people to feel good about being different!
