Three men and two young people are confronted with theft after prosecutors after prosecutors accused them of robbing a group of suburbs that admired the skyline of the city.
Four men from the Plaines, all between 18 and 20, took the nightly view of the center of a parking garage roof in the 2300 -block of West Logan according to the public prosecutors. At least one other group admired the view from the roof and someone from that group walked to the victims and asked what gang she associated with, said public prosecutors in detentry provers.
Moments later, the entire second group crossed the roof and robbed the victims, the files said. One of the young people waved a knife and pursued a man in the suburbs. The man escaped but lost a shoe and his phone as he fled.
The same juvenile pursued a second victim and stole his belt.
A third victim tried to escape, but the group would chase him and robbed him from his phone, wallet and keys at Knifepoint.
The prosecutors said that the robbers chased the victims a short distance before they left the stage. In the meantime, the victims used a telephone tracking app to find one of their stolen telephones in a nearby bowling alley. When they arrived, they reportedly saw all five robbers in two separate cars in the parking lot.
The victims marked a nearby police officer, who held the group and called for backup.
Prosecutors accused Osvaldo Chaidez, 20, Jack Ognar, 18, Ryan Eggleston, 29, and the two young people with four counts of theft.
According to the files, Chaidez hit one of the victims, while Ognar recorded the incident on his phone.
The police investigators are said to have found the shoe of a victim, the belt of another victim and a few copper knuckles in the car of Eggleston.
Judge James Murphy III denied detention for all three adults and ordered them instead of electronic monitoring. Details about the youth cases are not publicly available.
