A 53-year-old man from Chicago has been accused of attempted murder of the first degree after a violent machete attack on his 38-year-old female neighbor in Lawndale.
The incident took place around 6.25 pm on 8 June in the 2100 block of South Pulaski Road, according to the Chicago police.
Right of law shows that the victim, which has a construction company, was in an alley who prepared for an employee when Jose Hernandez reportedly ran to her who used a machete.
Prosecutors stated that Hernandez hit the woman four or five times and focused on her head, neck, back, arm and trunk. The attack left her with several cracks that require stitches in the Mt. Sinai Hospital.
The son of the woman and two other witnesses chased Hernandez after the attack by De Steeg, the prosecutors said. When they caught up with him, Hernandez reportedly waved the Machete and hit one of the men in the arm, which caused a slight injury. The group managed to subdue Hernandez and push him to the ground. They disarmed him, threw the machete aside and then returned to check the victim, according to officials in a court application.
In a detention, officers of justice noted that Hernandez “made admission” the police expressed regret for the incident and admitted that he had drunk in advance.
They said that Hernandez claimed that the woman $ 800 owed him for the work that performed her and she had given him three checks, but he believed that she still owed him more. He claimed that she refused to pay him more because he has no papers, prosecutors said in submitting their allegations.
The woman, however, said that the police Hernandez was a ‘well -known drunken’ who had worked shortly for her in 2017 and again for a two -day job last year, but she stopped hiring him because of his drink.
Judge Shauna Boliker granted the detention of the prosecutor and ordered Hernandez to stay in detention while waiting for the trial.
