Federal public prosecutors say they have finally arrested the real “Ocean’s Eleven”, or rather, the “Pacific Ocean’s Seven” responsible for the greatest jewel robbery in American history.
Civil servants accused seven men with theft of $ 100 million in gold, diamonds, high-end watches and other treasure of the armored truck of a Brink that drove through California in July 2022.
The indictment came three years after the theft in Hollywood style, of which the Ministry of Justice said it was the greatest jewelry in the history of the country.
The precious charge was loaded on the truck of a Brink the night before, after a jewel and jewelry show south of San Francisco, and was driven 300 miles away to another showcase northeast of Los Angeles.
The crooks hindered the truck at a resting place and left with 73 bags filled with rare, unique pieces, including diamonds, emeralds and rubies, according to officials and reports.
FBI agents found part of the stolen loot while performing a house search order on Monday, the Doj said in a statement.
The alleged band of thieves comes from the Los Angeles area and is confronted with a maximum of 20 years in prison.
One of the suspects, Jazael Padilla Resto, has been taking time in a prison of the state of Arizona for a separate indictment for breaking and coming in, the department added.
Several others are accused of extra truck story, including intercepting shipments from Samsung Electronics and a truck full of Apple Aaltags, officials said.
