2 suspects, 1 deputy injured in Pueblo police shooting, crash

Pueblo County deputies shot at and injured two people Tuesday night while investigating a “suspicious vehicle” at a gas station, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies responded to the suspicious vehicle at a gas station in the 31900 block of Colorado 96 just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.

The gas station is on the southern edge of eastern Pueblo.

Deputies tried to talk to the two people in the vehicle, but the suspect drove off, hitting a patrol car on the way, sheriff’s officials said in the release. That’s when deputies shot at the suspect vehicle.

One deputy inside the patrol car was injured in the crash, sheriff’s officials said.

The suspect then fled westbound on Colorado 96 until, about four miles later, deputies hit the car and forced it to roll, according to the sheriff’s office.
