How Cadillac is enticing Australians to buy its EV

Cadillac enters Australia’s competitive luxury car market, but comes armed with a comprehensive after-sales package.

The first model in Australia, the Lyriqis now available for configure and order online ahead of customer deliveries starting early next year.

In addition to prices that undercut German rivals, Cadillac also backs its vehicles with a five-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty, five years of roadside assistance and five years of complimentary scheduled maintenance.

The battery has a lifespan of eight years or 160,000 km.

This after-sales package is called Cadillac Confidence, and it is transferable to the next owner if you sell your Cadillac.

All Lyriqs come with one year of free public charging via the Chargefox network.

Once that year is up, you can opt to receive another two years of free Chargefox charging. Alternatively, you can also choose to have JET Charge supply and install a 7.4kW Autel home charging station free of charge.

“Whether this is your first EV or your latest and greatest, we want to ensure the experience is a luxury one,” said GM Australia and New Zealand Managing Director Jess Bala.

Cadillac has also partnered with Plenti to offer “customized financing solutions” to Lyriq buyers.

The Lyriq range starts at $117,000 before on-road costs for the Luxury, while the Sport tops out at $119,000 before on-road costs.

For now it is only sold online, but Cadillac is opening two Australian Experience Centers: one in Sydney and one in Melbourne.

Cadillac has teased that more product announcements will follow in 2025. While it hasn’t officially confirmed which vehicles it will launch alongside the Lyriq, the company has trademarked the Optiq, Vistiq and Escalade iQ nameplates.

This suggests that the brand wants to offer a range of electric SUVs. It has previously confirmed that it plans to be an EV-only brand in Australia, while globally it has previously set a target of becoming EV-only by 2030.
