Police are looking for a creep who broke into an Upper East Side apartment early Saturday and raped a 29-year-old woman before leaving.
The horrific attack happened around 3:40 a.m. near East 92nd Street and First Avenue, when police said the attacker somehow entered the apartment and attacked the victim.
The woman was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital, where she was in stable condition, the NYPD said.
On Sunday, police released surveillance footage and a photo of the suspected rapist leaving the scene.
He is seen wearing blue jeans, a white shirt with a design on the front and a jacket with a camouflage pattern.
Police are asking anyone with information about the accused rapist to contact NYPD Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS or at crimestopers.nypdonline.org.
The disturbing rape comes amid a spike in sexual assaults in the Big Apple this year compared to last year — including the attempted rape of a Montana woman near a Greenwich Village subway station on September 15.
The guy followed the woman as she left the station and chased her when she tried to run away – then punched her and groped her while threatening her.
According to NYPD crime statistics, rapes citywide this year as of September 22 are up 13 percent compared to the same period last year, 157 this year compared to just 124 at the same time in 2023.
In the department’s 19th district, where the rape took place in a house on Saturday, three rapes were reported on September 22, while none were reported in the same period last year, statistics show.
