According to Chris Barman, the CEO of Slate: “The definition of what is exaggerated is broken. Slate exists to reduce the power to the hands of customers ignored by the automotive industry. Slate is a radical truck platform that can be adjusted in such a way that it can transform a pick-up with two seats.”
Slate wants to sell the truck in Basic Spec for around US $ 27,000 ($ 42,300) or just less than US $ 20,000 ($ 31,300) after federal EV Tax Rebate. It is unknown how long the discount will still be, where the Trump administration is openly considering scrapping it.
For context, the Hybrid Ford Maverick starts at the entry level at US $ 23.290 ($ 36,490), while the fully electric Ford F-150 Lightning starts at US $ 62,995 ($ 98,700).
In “Blank Slate” trim, the truck has the stool wounded windows, steel wheels, air conditioning and a digital instrumentation screen. There is no infotainment system, but rather a built -in telephone holder and charger.
If that is a bit too simple, Slate offers 100 options, including an infotainment tablet, 17 or 20-inch alloy wheels, electric windows, door trays, fog lights, steering wheel Bluetooth control elements and audio trayers.
The design can also be upgraded via a selection of wraps, stickers, wheel coverings, outer flair -baths and interior finish.
Perhaps the most interesting options are the flat-pack SUV kits that owners can install themselves or have installed them for them, which transforms the truck with two seats into an SUV with five seats. Both a Boxy back and a slimmer fastback kit are available in closed roof, open roof or door-free variants.
Measuring 4435 mm long, 1793 mm wide, 1760 mm long, and driving on a 2766 mm, the slate truck is small according to modern ute standards. For comparison: the Single-Cab Toyota Hilux is approximately 4.93 meters long and the two-door Ford F-1550 is 5.3 m long. The similarly priced Unibody Ford Maverick is almost 5.1 million long.
During the launch, the Slate Truck will be available with only one powertrain with a 150 kW/264NM Engine that controls the rear wheels.
It can be linked to one 52.7kWh battery with a target range of round 240 kmor a larger one 84.3kWh unity that should be good 390 km ride. The simplest truck weighs 1634 kg.
It supports AC chargers up to 11 kW and DC quickly charges up to 120 kW. In the US it is equipped with a NACS charging gate, which means it must have access to the Supercharging network from Tesla.
Unwanted, and presumably with the smaller battery, the slate truck can peel the standard 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) in 8.0 seconds and hit a top speed of 145 km/h.
The truck runs on the advantage of Macpherson Strut and a Dionas with rinsing springs at the back. The 17-inch steel wheels are connected to 245/65 tires.
Maximum load would be 650 kg and dragging is limited to 454 kg. The rear section has a volume of 1048L, is 1524 mm long (or 2073 mm with the tailgate) and is between 1090 mm and 1395 mm wide.
Slate is currently building a factory in Indianapolis, Indiana. The first deliveries are expected in the fourth quarter of 2026 and the company hopes to sell around 150,000 trucks per year.
Although the final prices have not been recorded, interested parties can deposit a down payment of US $ 50 to secure a production pot.
