Older Pixel -Phones can be left as a new Android 16 function to newer Google devices.
Google appears set to roll out a long -awaited menu for the health of the battery as part of Android 16 for Pixel -Smartphones – but only those in the past year or so.
The new Battery Health menu has been coming up in Android code for some time, before it appears completely as part of the Android 16 Beta 3.
It promises to offer a handy breakdown of how much the battery cell of a telephone has been broken down with use and time – a facility that has been offering the iPhone range of Apple for years.

When the Google’s Issue Tracker was questioned why this function did not appear on older pixel devices – and by ‘older’ we mean up to and including the Google Pixel 8 Pro, launched at the end of 2023 – a Google representative responded with the following:
“The Battery Health indicator function is currently supported in Beta 3 on Pixel 8A and Pixel 9 products, including 9 Pro Fold. Due to product restrictions, this function is not available on older Pixel devices in the market.”
This does not fully exclude the new menu of the health of the battery at some point on older pixel devices. Google’s answer was specifically in relation to the Android 16 -Bèta, not the full release.
The expression “however, this function will not be available on older in-market Pixel devices” comes with the implication that the company does not look beyond the Google Pixel 8a, which was launched a little more than a year ago.
Would it be strange and deeply annoying if Google’s last-gene access model were to pack a new UI function that is his ‘Pro’ big brother that runs on the same chip, isn’t? You bet it would do.
