The fan-favorite series Arcane is back on Netflix. The first act of season 2 premiered on the service in early November, bringing back a gripping story with a huge fan base.
When Arcane premiered on Netflix in 2021, it quickly received acclaim from critics and fans alike. Riot Games’ adaptation of League of Legends appealed to fans of the original title and those with little knowledge of the game. Arcane captivated viewers with its unique animation style, steampunk atmosphere, complex moral dilemmas and charismatic characters.
Three years have passed since the release of the first season. Although Netflix greenlit the next episode, there was no information about the new episodes for a long time. Now that the season 2 premiere is just a few weeks away, we know a little more about it. We’ve rounded up all the latest news about Arcane’s second season.
When is Arcane season 2 coming out?
The show’s second season is currently rolling out episodes on Netflix. They will be published in November 2024 in three parts.
Here is the exact schedule:
ACT I (episodes 1-3): Saturday, November 9 at 12pm PT / 3am ET / 8am UK
ACT II (episodes 4-6): Saturday, November 16 at 12pm PT / 3am ET / 8am UK
ACT III (episodes 7-9): Saturday, November 23 at 12pm PT / 3am ET / 8am UK
The new season took three years to create – a fact that should not be surprising, as work on the first took a whopping six years. The makers want to create something truly spectacular for the fans.
As it turned out, season 2 tells the conclusion of Vi and Jinx’s story. Fortunately, this does not mean the end of the stories from the League of Legends universe.
Christian Linke, co-creator of the show, explains in a video published on X that the sisters’ storyline would last two seasons from the beginning. However, the success of animation led writers to create even more series and films set in this universe.
What is the plot of Arcane season 2?
Spoilers follow.
Netflix hasn’t released much information about the plot of season 2 yet. However, we know that the storyline will pick up right after the bloody events at the end of season 1.
In the season finale, Jinx, raging with rage, attacked the Piltover council, which was voting on Zaun’s independence. The attack likely resulted in the deaths of many people, leading to a war between the two cities.
The relationship between Vi and Jinx remains a central theme in season 2. However, it seems that the damage to their bond is beyond repair. Thanks to Netflix’s latest trailer, we know that Jinx will become the leader of the rebels who want to overthrow order in Piltover. However, Vi will stand up to the rioters as she has already lost hope of saving her sister. Caitlyn, among others, will fight alongside her.
Meanwhile, Piltover authorities will impose martial law in response to the attack, worsening the situation in the towns.
