Chicago-armed robbers focused on at least four people on Wednesday evening during a spree of one hour in West Town and Humboldt Park. While the police finally stopped and kept four suspects, Chicago police said on Thursday morning that there were no perpetrators in custody for the crimes.
Each of the robberies concerned three or four armed men who jumped out of stolen cars to cover their victims.
The entrances started around 7:52 PM in the 1800 block of West Carroll. A 30-year-old man stood on the sidewalk when a group of robbers left a car and shot his property, a CPD spokesperson said. The crew got away with the man’s backpack and the man’s phone.
Only a few minutes later, two men were robbed in the 1800 block of West Fulton. Again, masked men surrounded the victims and took their valuables under shot.
Then, at around 8:30 PM, an SUV put in the 2700-block of West Division, and four armed men got out to rob a 39-year-old man on the sidewalk, the police spokesperson said.
The Spree concerned two stolen cars, but it was unclear whether the car’s crew changed or whether there were two groups. Shortly after 9 p.m., the police stopped one of the stolen cars near Huron and Springfield and brought four people in custody. However, authorities have not yet announced any charges against them.
The robbers were described as black men who wore black clothing, hoodies and face masks.
CWBCHICAGO was founded in 2013 by five residents of Wigleyville and Boystown who had been discouraged with inaccurate information provided during meetings of the local community policing (CAPS). Our coverage area has since been expanded to cover Lincoln Park, River North, De Loop, Uptown and other North Side areas. But our mission remains unchanged: to provide original reporting of public safety with a better context and more detail than regular media. Our editorial e -mail address is news@cwbchicago.com
