Chicago – The police are conducting a life investigation after a poorly dissolved body was found in an area that is often used as a homeless camp near the South Loop.

A man discovered the remains wrapped in a blanket in some bushes in the 1500 block of South Canal late on Tuesday evening. He walked to a nearby company and asked someone to call the police.

Officers said the individual initially seemed to be male, but they couldn’t know for sure. The office of the medical researcher of Cook County will perform an autopsy.

CWBCHICAGO was founded in 2013 by five residents of Wigleyville and Boystown who had been discouraged with inaccurate information that was provided during meetings of the local community policing (CAPS). Our coverage area has since been expanded to cover Lincoln Park, River North, De Loop, Uptown and other North Side areas. But our mission remains unchanged: to provide original reporting of public safety with a better context and more detail than regular media. Our editorial e -mail address is news@cwbchicago.com
