Avril Mathie has been withdrawn from boxing after placing an emotional farewell – in the form of a love letter to the sport.
The Aussie star hangs her gloves with a record of eight victories, one loss and one draw.

She stood in line to face Ebanie Bridges in 2023 in what was called “the Battle of the Boobs”.
But Mathie – who has since had her breast implants removed – pulled himself out of the game due to injury.
And now she called time on her career – going to Instagram to make the announcement.
She posted: ‘To the love of my life. Unfortunately I have to say goodbye after 13 years.
“My heart is broken and runs away from you, I still have so much love for you, some even call it addiction.
“I had so many dreams for our future, but my body can no longer take your abuse.
“You gave me the highest highlights. We traveled around the world and achieved things that dreamed most alone.
“But a year and a half ago you hurt me so much. And while I missed you at that time, I also had the best year of my life.
“It opened my eyes for what else is waiting for me. Still, I tried to come back to you over the past 6 months, but you just keep hurting me.
“Where I had ever believed that we would always work it out, I was slowly tired of pain, bored me that you were your sidelines girl and I long to be back in something that we ever had when I felt that I was not growing.
“After long chats with friends, I understood that you can no longer fulfill my needs.
“I realized that it is me who is fun and inspiring, it is not even about you and that will translate into all my future relationships.
“And there is so many others that I flirt with that you don’t even know yet. So I know it’s fine.
‘And I know you will miss me, but don’t worry, I will find a way to stay connected to you.
“Thank you for everything, boxing, I will be grateful forever that we have crossed the path.”
Bridges, a former Bantam weight champion, noted: “You are always the one who has gone away for me.”
She also added: “I love this letter. You are great in and out of the ring. On the next chapter / new love. What I have no doubt about.”

She also suffered a horror injury after she had fallen from an engine in 2023 – with her bone horribly out of her leg.
