A 16-year-old boy became the second person who has been charged with the violent robbery of a CTA passenger earlier this year, said Chicago police on Thursday.

The robbery took place around 3:55 am on 3 February in a train near the Chinatown-Cermak station, according to a city database and the press release from the police. A 53-year-old man was on the train when the group “aggressively battered” and took his property, the police said. A few days later, the police released images of the suspects and asked for help with identifying them.

The police now say that they arrested a 16-year-old boy in Orland Park yesterday to experience theft and worsened battery guests in the case. A 13-year-old boy was charged in the same way earlier this year.

There was no other information available about the boy or the specific allegations that had been submitted against him because youth affairs are legally protected.

CWBCHICAGO was founded in 2013 by five residents of Wigleyville and Boystown who had been discouraged with inaccurate information that was provided during meetings of the local community policing (CAPS). Our coverage area has since been expanded to cover Lincoln Park, River North, De Loop, Uptown and other North Side areas. But our mission remains unchanged: to provide original reporting of public safety with a better context and more detail than regular media. Our editorial e -mail address is news@cwbchicago.com
