A brutal failed for a series of anti-Muslim hate crimes four years ago this week was caught again because he reportedly had a different Muslim woman focused in a Queens-Trein hair so much defeated that she said her nose, the police and prosecutors said.
Naved Durrni, 34, stormed to the 55-year-old hijab-bearing woman aboard a Jamaica-bound e-train that passed through the 75th Avenue station on Wednesday and broke: “Where are you from? Are you a Muslim?” According to a criminal complaint.
When the victim replied that she was in fact a Muslim, Durrni repeatedly hit and hit her in the face, head and neck, and even kicked her in the face, the court newspapers said.
The victim was treated in a local hospital for fractions for her nasal and orbital bones, and bruises and swelling, the complaint said.
In the meantime, the attacker who left a black mets-cap, a black du-rag, a black jacket over a red collar shirt, black pants with a white belt and black Timberland work boots-from start but a few blocks were arrested further, according to the police and the burglary.
He was accused of hatred crimes and worsened intimidation, and ordered without bail by judge Michael Katz during his Thursday morning preliminary guide.
Durrni is no stranger to the criminal justice system – he has a total of six earlier arrests, including a disturbing history of random attacking Muslim victims in Queens in June and July of 2021, the authorities said.
In one case he would have focused a few on Liberty Avenue and Lefferts Boulevard-a 31-year-old man and pull the hijab of the 24-year-old woman, said the office of the Queens Da at the time.
He would also have a box that the woman wore and growled: “Mohammed was a liar,” said public prosecutors.
In the second attack, he shouted the same anti-Mohammed statement when he approached another couple in Inwood Street-a 56-year-old woman in the face and head, breaking her nose, said the DA’s office.
After that he would have bumped a 38-year-old woman on the street on Sutphin Boulevard near 94th Avenue, again sied “Mohammad was a liar” and “Jesus tells the truth”, said officers of justice.
When the victim tried to call 911 on her cell phone, Durrni is said to have brought a knife and focused on her, said the DA’s office.
He was initially ordered without a bail pending a psychiatric evaluation, the post reported at the time.
The reason for his release after the hate crimes was not immediately known, but prosecutors say that in 2022 he was convicted of second -degree aggravated intimidation.
He will appear again in court on Monday in connection with the new case.
