BYD launches fleet agreements to enable local expansion

Chinese giant BYD has launched a fleet pricing program that will deliver discounts across its range, helping the company make progress towards its ambitious sales targets in Australia.

BYD has partnered with Australian distributor EVDirect to offer fleet discounts on its entire range of electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), including the new Shark 6 ute.

The fleet prices come after BYD outlined its sales targets for the remainder of 2024 – 25,000 units in Australia – and beyond, including ambitions to double the figures annually.

That would mean 50,000 Australian units in 2025 and then 100,000 units in 2026. BYD is also aiming for the Shark 6 to match the sales trajectory of the Sealion 6, which has been the best-selling PHEV in Australia for the past two months.

As part of the deal, BYD will offer a six percent rebate to all local, state and federal government departments and agencies, as well as non-profit organizations.

There is also a six percent discount for customers with an extensive fleet, which includes all companies with a fleet size of more than 100 vehicles.

For standard fleet customers, a four percent discount is available, applicable to all companies with a fleet size of 20 to 99 vehicles.

Dealer delivery is free as part of the offer. To be eligible, interested organizations must register for the BYD Fleet program via the brand’s online link here.

Fleet sales represent a significant portion of the new car market in Australia.
