The Chicago police held a suspect and recovered a firearm after a bystander had been shot, possibly during a shooting between two armed men, outside Wigley Field on Thursday evening. A source told CWBCHICAGO that Cubs security cameras, described as ‘world class’, recorded the shooting.

Witnesses told the police that two groups of people in their teenage years or early 20s had a confrontation on the corner of Waveland and Sheffield around 6.56 pm according to preliminary information from witnesses, the fight culminated with two men who shoot at each other.

A bullet fired by a shooter on the north side of Waveland hit a 26-year-old man on the left arm while standing across the street of Murphy. The police marked at least 15 Shell -Oomhulsels near a parking space on the north side of Waveland Avenue.

Cops flooded CTA stations in the area and arrested a suspect at the Wilson Red Line Station around 7:18 pm that an officer at the train station said they contain a gun and a backpack with a sweatshirt that was similar to the witnesses that a shooter said a shooter wore during the shooting.

Five people who were on the subject were admitted for interrogation.

The victim was taken to plead Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition.

Wrigley Field has some of the highest quality security systems in the entire city, according to a police source in Chicago that is familiar with the activities of the Ballpark. CPD often works with the Cubs to secure video for incidents in the neighborhood where the Ball Club or Wigley Field is not involved, because the team’s video network is so extensive and is of superior quality for everything the city has.
