California Doctor on the Run After Being Sentenced to Prison for Medicare Fraud

A doctor in California skipped the city after he had manipulated the Medicare system to cheat the government of almost $ 1.5 million.

According to a new Ministry of Justice (DOJ) press releaseThe 61-year-old Medicare provider Lilit Gagikovna Baltaian of Porter Ranch, Ca, has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison for health care fraud.

The DOJ says that the fugitive false certifications in Los Angeles has issued from 2012 to 2018, which costs the government $ 1,497 million.

“From approximately January 2012 to July 2018, they falsely certified patients to receive home health care from at least four home health authorities in Los Angeles. These certifications were used by home health authorities to invoice fraudulent Medicare.

In some cases, blank signed, undated physician certification forms in Baltaian knowing that the health authorities at home would forget the forms to appear that she had seen the Medicare beneficiaries and made clinical findings to support the need for home care if they had not done any of them. Baltaian received cash payments with regard to these references and has also invoiced Medicare for signing the fraudulent certifications. “

Although Baltaian argued in guilty in November last year for a census of health care fraud, the doctor’s fraudster has since disappeared, probably on the flight of the law.
