Carjacker jumped up and out of moving train to avoid the Chicago police helicopter, officials (it didn't work) say
Jose Gorostieta (Cook County Sheriff’s Office, Chicago Police Department)

Chicago – An armed Carjacker tried to escape a helicopter from the Chicago police by jumping on and out of a moving train, said officials, but in the end he was arrested (and admitted to the hospital).

It all started when a gray Mazda cut off a 35-year-old man when he rode in the 4400 block of South Keating on Monday 27 January around 13:45. The Mazda passenger stepped out, aimed a gun on the man’s head, and ordered him from the vehicle, said civil servants.

After the victim had a bag of the passenger seat grabbed, the hijacker drove his 2012 Dodge Durango away.

A short time later, one of the helicopter units of the CPD found the hijacked SUV and started to follow it. The AirCrew watched while Gorostieta walked the car and jumped on a moving train near 79th and Central Park, according to his arrest report.

The crew was still watching when Gorostieta jumped out of the moving train and walked into a garage in the 3500 block of West 78th place, the report said. Police officers found him hidden under a vehicle in the garage. The report states that they brought him to the Christ Hospital for ‘injuries before [police] arrival.”

Researchers have established that the Mazda from which he was also stolen had been stolen, said prosecutors.

Judge David Kelly held him on accusation of aggravated kaacking of vehicles and criminal violation to a vehicle.
