The mother of a teenager in Colorado who was reportedly seduced by her teacher, says that school policy of school policy was able to enable school officials to ignore red flags and helped a teacher to take care of her vulnerable daughter for years.
Investigation by the police and the school claims that Leann Kearney, 37, is a systematic campaign involved in alienating the girl from her parents – and used school managers to help.
The director and others at the Columbine High School in Jefferson County, Colorado, were all too happy for Kearney have control over the girl under the guise to help her “by navigating her sexuality,” the mother claims.
“This was years of care. Then she took her, “said the mother. “She took my child.”
Why civil servants kept the girl’s parents in the dark about the situation: the state of the state intended to protect transgender students, drove a gap between all kinds of children and educators, Lindsay Datko of Advocacy Jeffco Kids First.
“Transgender equal opportunities policy – before we fought for two years to change it – said they would leave parents outside the transition process if students said that that is what they wanted,” explained thatko. “It contributed a culture of confidentiality.”
On February 14, the director apologized to families and staff After public registers revealed how teacher Social Studies Kearney Kearney has now duped officials to help her with a minor student.
“This terrible situation will chase me for the rest of my life. I’m very sorry for the pain that this family has experienced, “said director Scott Christy in a letter.
The school has since updated its child safety policy and staff will receive extra training on how to prevent a comparable situation from happening again, according to the letter.
The apology came almost a year after the ex-teacher reported to Oregon with her student when the girl became 18 without criminal persecution, although state officials discovered that she had been taking care of the teenager for years.
“She was 15 when she was in Kearney’s class,” the girl’s mother – who asked that she was not called nor her daughter – told the post.
Since the teenager of Kearney came in as a second -year student in 2018, the two 24,000 SMS messages spent, spent for decades on the phone, met them secretly and – according to a memorandum written by the teenager – even kissed while the girl is a minor Was, according to research by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and School District that were viewed by the position.
Kearney got the girl a job in her planet fitness gym and let her pick her pick -up truck. At one point Kearney’s girlfriend dumped her and she told the relationship of the researchers Kearney with her young student a point of discussion, according to the research documents.
The mother claims that Kearney forced her daughter to submit a fraudulent request for the status of the federal ‘homeless young people’, so she could go out of the house – and away from the watchful eye of her parents
Kearney started asking colleagues about that application process when her alleged future lover was only 15 years old, according to records.
Kearney and her victim recruited her guidance adviser, the director and another teacher for help, and told them that the teenager was in a dangerous, offensive house and did not feel safe to stay with her parents.
But the staff never contacted her parents and never watched her story – not even with her younger brother, who went to the same school and had the same guidance adviser.
Reached for comment, the school referred the message to his open letter that apologized about the case. He said he informed school authorities, and that Kearney was militarily at the time and never returned to the school.
When the counselor sent her application paper to a district officer, she asked them not to contact the girl’s parents, internal e -mails revealed.
But although the girl’s mother did not know about her claim of homelessness, she had become wise in her “special” relationship with Kearney. She sent the teacher in which she asked her not to contact her daughter again, but Kearney never responded and continued to text and call the girl, who was then 17.
Eventually the mother brought the case for director Christy. The mother said Christy turned the red flags and claimed that Kearney simply had a special interest in ‘helping children in navigating their sexuality’.
In the letter of 14 February, Christy admitted that “the correct procedures were not followed” for the girl’s homeless childhood, but he said the legal team of the district was not informed.
He also said that Kearney would have been fired if she had not first resigned.
The State eventually dismissed Kearney from its educational permit last December because of ‘proof … that’ care ‘took place.’ “
But by that time, Kearney had already run away to Oregon with the girl, who is now an adult, but still half of Keaney’s age.
‘What the protagonist [sheriff’s] Researcher told me it will be so until she realizes that she is in an offensive situation, “said the mother.
She added: “This was deliberately, calculated and a conspiracy.”
Multiple attempts to reach Kearney were not successful.
