The police officers of Chicago found a 16-year-old boy shot in a large group gathered in an Englewood Street at night, according to CPD. Nobody called 911 about the shooting, but officers said on the spot that it seemed as if the victim had died the street after shot.
It is a shame that mayor Brandon Johnson broke the shotspotter -Schutter detection system of the city in September. Before he did, the area where the boy was murdered was followed by Scottish sensors that could bring the police on stage, even when people don’t bother to call 911 for some reason.
Officers reported that they had seen the large meeting on 72nd and Groen around 1:37 am, according to CPD Dispatch Audio. They quickly asked for other units to speed up their reaction.
Witnesses then marked officers and “Relative that they found a person on the grounds who did not respond,” said the police in a media statement. The police quickly established that the boy did not respond because he had been shot several times. He was declared dead on the spot.
A CPD Supervisor said it seemed that the boy had been shot on one side of the street and then dragged to the other.
Ald. David Moore (17th) led the attention of the city council last year to convince Johnson to keep the Scot spotter active. Two -thirds of aldermen shared Moore’s position. That did about 70% of the inhabitants of Chicago and the police inspector of the city.
Johnson all ignored that and ended the relationship of the city with Shotspotter from September 23.
In October, Moore, together with a few of his colleagues and business leaders, announced That they had picked up $ 2.5 million to compensate for around a third of the annual shot spotter costs of the city. Johnson does not bite and the system remains inactive to this day.
