CHICAGO — Two people have been jailed after prosecutors accused them of robbing and dragging a man with their car at a Northwest Side gas station earlier this month.
Davell Dixon-Matthew, 30, and Shayna Sergerson, 32, were arrested this week in connection with the Oct. 7 robbery of Mobil, 5949 West Higgins, in Jefferson Park.
Dixon-Matthew and Sergerson assaulted the 30-year-old Milwaukee man and took his wallet around 4:04 a.m., officials said. They jumped into their getaway car and Sergen continued to drag the man by driving away while he clung to the side of the vehicle, the charges said.
A Chicago police report shows the victim suffered multiple injuries, including blunt force trauma to his head and body.
When police arrested Dixon-Matthew this week, he was wearing the same winter hat that the male robber was seen wearing in a video of the crime, the report said.
Prosecutors have charged Dixon-Matthew and Sergeerson with robbery and aggravated battery. They charged Sergenson with an additional charge of failure to report an accident involving injury.
Judge Caroline Glennon-Goodman granted petitions to keep the couple in jail pending trial.
Court records show Dixon-Matthews was arrested on July 17 on a charge of possession of a stolen motor vehicle in the northwest suburb of Norridge. He was released from the station without being brought before a judge, records show.
His first court appearance in that case was October 8, the day after the robbery occurred.
