CHICAGO – Chicago police say a cyclist is recovering after another cyclist shot him during an argument in the Loop Saturday evening.
It happened near the BP station at Wabash and Roosevelt around 6:22 p.m.
CPD said a 23-year-old man was bicycling when he got into an argument with another cyclist. The altercation turned physical and the second cyclist pulled out a gun. He fired one shot at the 23-year-old, hitting him in the lower back.
The gunman fled the scene and rode east on Roosevelt on a blue bicycle. Police said the victim was in fair condition.
An officer at the scene described the shooter as a black man wearing all-black clothing and a face mask that covered his entire head.
The victim is the twelfth person shot in the Loop this year. Two of those shootings were ruled self-defense. For comparison, 14 people were shot in the area at this time last year and 34 people in 2022.
