With the Daredevil revival that was getting closer, I decided to make season 3 of the best Marvel TV series ever again.
While a bit slow to start, season 3 of Daredevil Matt saw his lowest point touching, struggling with his faith and alter-ego. In the meantime, the Kingpin (fairly literally, in that chic penthouse of him) was at full power. He manipulated the FBI, a big jury and more to make his bids.
I had a number of initial concerns about how born would go again, given the lighter-hearted person, the characters in Hawkeye and She-Hulk take, but the new teasers and information have a little solved.
The first images promises brutal violence, just like the shocking 18+ rating. Only season 2 of Daredevil, season 1 of Iron Fist and both seasons of the Punisher have received this in Marvel TV history.
However, the MCU has been somewhat inconsistent with its tradition in recent years and after visiting the end of Daredevil, I have identified an important plot point that needs more explanation. If it is not tackled, I will not see how this MCU series will match the attention to detail of the Netflix original.

How does Wilson Fisk become the mayor of New York City after Daredevil?
I will be the first to admit that it is always brilliant to see Wilson Fisk’s humor in the game. Although we all enjoy watching this absolute unity that a person’s head takes in a car door, he shines even more with his calculated chess movements that are often many steps for Matt Murdock, Foggy Nelson and Karen Page.
The trailer for the new Disney+ show, Daredevil: Born Again, reveals that he used that Smarts to get into an incredibly lucrative position as mayor of New York City, which reflects a popular arc of the comics. However, this is far from where he was then Daredevil concluded in 2018.

While Fisk succeeded in corrupting some of the highest officials in the FBI, his public image was by no means polished. Many scenes told him widespread public protests.
It seemed that the tide in episode 11 started to turn to his advantage when he gave a speech after he had been cleared of accusations (with a part of his ‘influence’ of course), so that death in the city was the fault of Daredevil – He secretly murdered by using Ben Poindexter, Aka Bullseye, dressed in a perfect imitation of the Pack of the Civic Guard.
All of that crashed thanks to the recorded Video confession of the late Special Agent Ray Nadeem, who blew the lid on Fisk’s plans, called everyone and describes his involvement as an important complicit.
After a murderous three -way fight between Daredevil, Kingpin and Bullseye, Matt finished as a victor. Eventually he could not bring himself to kill Fisk and instead he chose to punish him by sending him to prison – and eventually, far away from the love of his life, Vanessa.
His arrest seemed to be very published, dragging his name back through the mud and dared to erase all misconduct. So, how does anyone come back, and more importantly, why did Matt sit useless to make this happen?
Fisk starts his rise in power in Hawkeye and Echo
If the previous MCU properties in which the villain of the Daredevil appears are considered as Canon, we will at least know the beginning of Wilson’s Comeback era … but it is unclear how much a role these plotbeats will play.
An interview with executive producer Richie Palmer for Polygon seems to indicate that Echo is at least relevant, but another article with Showrunner Dario Scardapane for SFX confirms that the show “some things” from the wider universe has ignored.
In both Hawkeye and Echo, Fisk essentially works underground, with gangs and criminals at street level. He is not yet surrounded by the location.
His attention focuses on the mayor position at the end of Echo, with news commentators who claim that the city wants a “bare brawler”. But how can the citizens forget the damage and that Fisk was previously supervised? And how did he get out of prison again? That performance took a complex plan in Daredevil season 3.

Why the fate of Fisk in Daredevil: Born Again has changed
A possible explanation is the effects of the blip. Thanos’ sweeps from half the population of the universe would overshadow all other events in the superhero world, and it could also have created chaos in the prisons when it took place.
Echo shows a flashback with Maya Lopez, which is recruited by Wilson after Ronin killed her father. That means that Fisk de Snap survived, just like Matt, because he also appeared briefly in a fighting scene – although Charlie Cox Cagey was about this fact when he was questioned by a fan.
If Fisk was not dusted, it could mean that half of the prison staff were absent, which could make an easy escape possible. It would also be the perfect opportunity to reinvent his image, with the city that Chaos encounters after everyone who was dusted back – but he still needs a strong PR campaign to make his promises credible.
Screen Rant points out that New York allows previously convicted criminals to go to the office, so it’s not impossible. It is clear that this is also something that we have seen on a much larger scale in real life with the current president of the United States.
But I want to see this process through detailed flashbacks, not only to which reference is made in a disposable line of dialogue. Fisk is such a compelling villain because he seems to have the opportunities run in his favor, even when his position seems completely impossible. Just when Matt thinks he can’t get used to being caught in any way, he reveals his hand and what he has always intended.
It would be a bad service to ignore this complex ladder climb. Although yes, I would like to see the bloody story of the new villain maze, I don’t want the Kingpin to be relegated in the process. Scardapane’s comments on Gamesradar about the fact that there is “more pleasure in the times with these characters and much fewer navel gazing” have set up some alarm bells.
Why would Matt Murdock Fisk allow to become mayor?
Matt went to the utmost to put Fisk once and for all in the last episodes of Daredevil. He even struggled with the idea of killing him, so much so much that this mission almost took away his self -feeling. Only after some conviction from the best friend Foggy did he find another way to expose the criminal brain.
It is hard to believe that Daredevil would have the Kingpin make a political claim on the city, and yet he discusses it very calmly with him in a restaurant during the trailer.
I would like to hope that these images are somewhat misleading – it is a flashforward, or later in the season than we think, so we still get the chance to see these plotbeats play. We know that Matt hangs his mask for some reason, but even then he could find other ways to stop Fisk. Perhaps legal, via the Nelson, Murdock and Page firm.

Realistic a death could be close to Matt the catalyst. There is speculation that foggy (or karen, although this is less likely) dies in Daredevil: Born Again. That could turn the world of Matt upside down, and in his grief he can lose the drive he had to stop at all costs.
Fortunately we don’t have to wait long to find out.
Daredevil: Born Again Drops on Disney+ on March 4, 2025, while seasons 1-3 of the original Daredevil series are also available on the same platform. You can register for an account on the Disney+ Website.
