Details have emerged about the parents of Amanda Overstreet, the murdered Colorado teen whose severed head and hands were found in a freezer in January — more than 15 years after she was last seen alive.
Overstreet’s late stepfather, Bradley Imer, had a history of run-ins with police, online court records confirm.
Arizona authorities arrested him in 2002 for drug possession, human trafficking and driving under the influence. He was pulled over for driving erratically, and police found methamphetamine and eight illegal weapons in his vehicle.
Imer, who died of COVID complications in 2021, took a plea deal with the state and was placed on probation. Eight of the nine charges against him were dropped.
Overstreet’s mother, Leanne Imer, 56, also had previous run-ins with police.
She lost custody of Overstreet when she was just three, with officials citing neglect and abuse.
When Leanne Imer lived in Texas, she was also accused of stealing from her own family members. reports the DailyMail.
According to the newspaper, she allegedly abused the power of attorney she had over her father to gain control of his properties, using forged papers to collect thousands from his bank accounts. But she was never criminally charged for her alleged schemes.
According to police, Overstreet was last seen in 2005. Her loose hands and head were discovered earlier this year by a real estate investor who was cleaning out the Grand Junction home previously owned by Leanne Imer — about 250 miles west of Denver .
DNA test results returned in October confirmed that the body parts were in fact Overstreet’s.
Leanne Imer reportedly told the family that her daughter had run away from a truck stop in Amarillo, Texas.
But the teen was never reported missing, police said. Investigators have not released how they believe Overstreet died.
No arrests have been made in connection with the gruesome death.
Leanne Imer could not be reached for comment on Saturday.
