Demi Moore Says This '90s Movie Script 'Scared The Crap' Out Of Her

Demi Moore has revealed that the script to the 1990 film “Ghost” definitely “scared the crap out” of her.

The “Substance” star, in a recent episode of “Hot Ones,” spilled on the emotional impact of the film when asked about the first scene that called on her to cry as an actor. (“Hot Ones” and JS share a parent company, BuzzFeed.)

“To be such a young person dealing with loss of your partner, in reading the script, I was so overwhelmed at the kind of grief that I was going to have to tap into,” she told “Hot Ones” host Sean Evans.

The Jerry Zucker-directed romance film — which also stars Patrick Swayze along with Whoopi Goldberg and Tony Goldwyn — is Moore’s highest-grossing movie to date.

Moore portrays Molly Jensen while Swayze stars as Jensen’s boyfriend, Sam Wheat.

In the film, Wheat is murdered only for his ghost to eventually look to protect Jensen from the man that killed him.

Moore’s performance in the film would earn her a Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy nomination at the Golden Globe Awards.

Moore, who referred to her “iconic” crying technique in the movie and claimed she had “no control” over it, said “Ghost” helped her get over a “hurdle” in her life.

“Not that I’ve done it always, there’s still, you know, emotionally whenever we have to be vulnerable is not easy,” she said.

Evans, who referred to the actor thinking to herself that the film would either be “really amazing or a total disaster,” asked if Moore finds such a dilemma “exciting.”

“It really means that it was holding something that was worth the risk,” said Moore, who added that she felt similarly about the part as she did toward “Ghost.”

She later continued, “It had so many different genres mixed together. Truly, I thought, this could either be amazing or a fucking disaster. And, either way, it’s like usually the kind of juice that says, ‘Step in, take the risk, roll the dice, let’s see what happens.’”
