Huddled if birds of a spring or in themselves are resolutely, Masako MikiThe lively, playful sculptures come to life with the Institute of Contemporary Art San Francisco. Whether it is spindly legs, sitting on the floor or hangs on the ceiling, there is a feeling of movement and energy in the room, as if every characteristic object can walk or roll away at the least provocation.
Miki’s Solo exhibition Midnight March is now open on the new exhibition space of ICA SF, the Cube, which activates a former bank building as a site for non-traditional exhibition presentations. The Japanese artist puts her pieces of mixed media, which contain materials such as wool, bronze, wood, ink and watercolor, in a dark, star work in which every lively, cartoon -like individual seems to glow.

Largely abstract in their vague shapes, felt textures and colorful patterns, Miki’s sculptures often point to a life force. A single eyes of a blue shape in “enchanting pine tree that reaches clouds” or human -like legs extend to the floor in “Pekbrella’s Whispers.” We are starting to realize that we are observed as much as we observe.
‘Midnight March Helps us to understand deeper aspects of Miki’s ‘other’ figures and to recognize a difference as a positive force, even if we are restless, ”says an exhibition statement.
The Indigo Sky in the entire exhibition complements the two -dimensional works of Miki, which she calls Night parades, Visitors welcome in an experiential context. The artist says: “I hope that my works generate the kind of curiosity and empathy that enables us to come together.”
Midnight March will continue until December 7 in San Francisco, and you can explore more about the artist website And Instagram.
