Known for his vibrant palettes and flattened perspectives, Belgian artist Kristof Santy translates ordinary sights and everyday objects into vivid scenes. His paintings often highlight fruits and vegetables, tabletops and means of transportation, especially those involved in industrial labor.
A new body of work continues Santy’s investigation into the everyday, this time extended to fashion and furniture. A striped sweater vest with an almost imperceptible wrinkle hangs from a rod and a modernist chair in fuchsia is pushed against a kelly green wall. Previous research also appears, including a short, retractable ladder that dangles from the door of a helicopter as it floats in the air without an operator.
