CHICAGO – Drive-by gunmen opened fire as they rolled through the Fulton River District overnight, wounding two people.

A 17-year-old boy told police he was walking out of a music studio in the 400 block of North Milwaukee when four people approached and fired two shots shortly after 2 a.m. He was hit in the leg.

Bullets also struck an 18-year-old man sitting in another vehicle on the street. He was sitting in the backseat when he suffered several gunshot wounds to his left side, officials said. Police said he was in critical condition.

Police surveillance video showed a slightly different version of events than the younger victim offered. The footage showed two gunmen firing from a gray Infiniti sedan as it headed north toward Milwaukee.

CPD has not released any information on a possible motive or descriptions of the suspects.

CWBChicago was founded in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had become discouraged by the inaccurate information presented during local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has since expanded to Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown and other North Side areas. But our mission remains unchanged: to provide original public safety reporting with better context and more detail than mainstream media. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
