Driver jumps over sidewalk and crashes into crowd during Christmas horror in London

A London driver was arrested for attempted murder after he jumped the sidewalk and crashed into a crowd of people early Christmas morning, sending four people to hospital, according to police.

The 31-year-old man was driving on the wrong side of the road on Shaftesbury Avenue in the heart of London’s busy West End theater district at around 12.45pm when he collided with pedestrians. the BBC reported.

One of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries, according to the Metropolitan Police, who confirmed this was an isolated incident and not terror-related.

Police believe the suspect “was involved in an altercation at a nightclub before getting into his car and hitting the sidewalk,” Deputy Assistant Commissioner Stuart Cundy said.

Authorities have cordoned off an area outside the Sondheim Theater, where the popular musical Les Misérables is currently playing. according to Sky News.
